Safawi Dates

Safawi dates have a dark, almost black color.
They are among the less sweet varieties while being high in fiber, and are still very flavorful, with subtle hints of maple syrup and caramel.
Small, rounded, and meaty, they develop honeyed flavors in the mouth. Their flesh is soft and creamy, while their skin is smooth and barely noticeable when bitten.
These Saudi dates from the Medina region are elongated with wrinkled skin. Their long, thin pit leaves plenty of room for the plump, flavorful fruit.
Pleasant in the mouth, their texture is firm without being hard. Coming from the same terroir, they are often compared in taste to Ajwa dates. Safawi dates are also well known for being rich in antioxidants and minerals.
Our Safawi dates are grown in the Medina region of Saudi Arabia. They are harvested at full ripeness, carefully selected, packaged, and shipped from the palm groves of our local partner.
They come from the Safawi date palm, renowned for producing large quantities of dates throughout the year.

Our Tips

How to Choose

Safawi dates have a dark color, ranging from burgundy to black. Their flesh is firm yet soft and fibrous. When exposed to cold, the flesh may shrink and harden, but it returns to its original texture at room temperature.

Serving Suggestions

Safawi dates can be enjoyed as-is, at any time of the day. Due to their size, they are often stuffed with nuts, nut butter, or marzipan.

Storage

Tamr Safawi dates can be stored for several months at room temperature, protected from air in an airtight container.
